Galaxy Fraulein Yuna (銀河お嬢様伝説ユナ), is a series of video games, anime, and other media from Japan. The Japanese title literally translates to "Galaxy Lady Legend Yuna".

The main character of the series is Kagurazaka Yuna, a somewhat ditzy 16-year old girl. After winning a "Galactic Bishōjo Contest", she becomes "Savior of the Lightside", a magical girl charged with defending the universe from evil. After becoming the "Savior of the Lightside", Yuna gains an impressively powerful armored suit, however, her greatest strength lies in her ability to befriend anyone, even her enemies. Getter Robo (ゲッターロボ - Gettâ Robo) is a Super Robot anime series created by Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa and produced by Toei Animation. The series was broadcast on NET (now TV Asahi) from April 4, 1974 to May 8, 1975, with a total of 51 episodes. This anime series featured the first heroic giant robot to combine from individual parts.

The plot involves three strong-willed teenagers: soccer player and martial artist Ryoma Nagare, rebel loner Hayato Jin and Judo master Musashi Tomoe, who pilot three specially designed combat jets which can be combined together in different forms to form three different kinds of giant robots, Getter-1 (used for aerial combat), Getter-2 (for land-based conflicts), and Getter-3 (for undersea battles). They were assembled by Prof. Saotome, who conceived the Getter Robo project as Earth's first line of defense against the Dinosaur Empire, which is a civilization of reptile-like humanoids, who evolved from the now-extinct dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago. Ghost in the Shell (Japanese: 攻殻機動隊, Kōkaku Kidōtai, i.e. Mobile Armoured Riot Police), is a Japanese science fiction manga created by Masamune Shirow. A sequel, Ghost in the Shell 2: Man/Machine Interface appeared in 2002.

Giant Robo (ジャイアントロボ, Jaianto Robo), is a tokusatsu, anime and manga series created by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. It is similar to his famous manga/anime series, Tetsujin 28 (the OVA version of Giant Robo features characters from Tetsujin 28), only Giant Robo has more fantastic elements.

Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot is the name given in the U.S. to the 26-episode tokusatsu (live-action) series based on Giant Robo, produced by Toei Company Ltd. in 1967.

Challenge of the GoBots also known as Mighty Machine Men is an American animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, based on the toy-line released from Tonka. Most of the toys were imported from the Japanese toy line Machine Robo.

The initial Gobots toys were re-releases from the Japanese Machine Robo series, sold on blister cards. Other toys from the Machine Robo DX were also released as ‘Super Gobots’. Tonka also created a number of original toys for the line, such as the Command Center, Thruster attack ship and the robot dinosaur, Zod. The initial Gobots were released in 1984.

Godzilla (ゴジラ - Gojira) is a giant Japanese movie monster (kaiju) first seen in the 1954 Japanese tokusatsu film Gojira, produced by Toho Film Company Ltd. To date, Toho has produced 28 Godzilla films. In 1998 TriStar Pictures produced a nominal remake of the original set in contemporary New York city. A new film is slated to be produced by Advanced Audiovisual Productions.

Godzilla is characterized as amphibious, nearly indestructible and highly regenerative, and breathing a sort of nuclear fire or "heat-ray". Golion aka Hundred Beast King FiveLion (百獣王ゴライオン - Hyakujūō Goraion) became the basis of the show Voltron (III). The first series featured a team of five young pilots commanding five robot lions, which could be combined to form Voltron. In this era, the Voltron force was in charge of protecting the planet Arus (ruled by Princess Allura) from the evil King Zarkon, his son Lotor, and the witch Hagar, who would create huge Robeasts to terrorise the people of Arus. Great Mazinger(グレートマジンガー) is the name of a manga comic book and anime television series by manga artist Go Nagai, made as a direct continuation of the successful Mazinger Z series. It was aired on Japan in 1974, immediately following the end of the first Mazinger series. It lasted for 56 episodes.

The story centers on Tetsuya Tsurugi, an orphan raised by none other than Kenzo Kabuto, the once thought dead father of Mazinger Z pilot Koji Kabuto. Kenzo Kabuto is the creator of the new, improved version of Mazinger, made by refining his father's Chogokin Z (Super Alloy Z) into a new, stronger form, designed to fight against humanity's new enemy, the Mikenese Empire, led by the Great General of Darkness and his army of robots. Ikki Tousen ("Bakunyu" Hyper-Battle Ikki Tousen", 一騎当千 Ikkitōsen(One with the strength of a thousand)) is a 13-episode anime series which is loosely based on the manga by Yuji Shiozaki. The anime is full of fan service - much of which concerns the main character, Hakufu, who constantly fights in short skirts and dresses - and some light erotic scenes.

Seven schools in the district of Kanto are constantly at war with each other, and the students within - both male and female - have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels, called magatama, that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period, and also change colour according to the ranking of its bearer. The ultimate purpose of each of these high-school fighters, known as Toushi, is to become stronger than all others and ascend to become the eponymous Ikki Tousen - literally translated, this means one spirit with the power of a thousand warriors. Inazuman (イナズマン) is a mutant superhero that appeared in tokusatsu, manga and anime.

Created by mangaka Shotaro Ishinomori, Inazuman first appeared in the self-titled 1973 tokusatsu TV series, Inazuman. He has become quite unique amongst the superheroes of the Henshin Hero genre.

Inazuman is, in reality, young college student Goro Watari (渡　五郎), a mutant. He lost his mother as a child, and had other dark moments in his childhood (he had a childhood girlfriend named Teresa, who was taken away by an American soldier during the US occuptation of Japan). J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai (ジャッカー電撃隊, Jakkā Dengekitai), translated into English as J.A.K.Q. Blitzkrieg Squad is the second Sentai series. Aired in April 9, 1977-December 24, 1977. Unlike most of the other Sentai which start out with a team of 5 members the JAKQ team started out with only 4. A fifth member (Big One) appeared in episode 23. J.A.K.Q. Dengeki Tai was not nearly as popular as Goranger, only running for 35 episodes. J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai is the second and final sentai created by Shotaro Ishinomori.

The Jagun Fighters toy line debuted in August 2003 as a new brand that combines action figures with the elements of a game involving the themes of “fate” and “chance.” The game is played with two players battling one another with pieces called Power Eye Stones.

2037 AD, A massive meteor shower fell from the sky and brought all known human civilization to an end.

Years later, inside Hong Kong's enormous crater, some surviving scientists discovered a large meteorite hovering in the air. From the mysterious meteorite, dubbed "Zero Metal", the scientists were able to extract the enormous energy that they desperately needed. The incredible finding led to the building of a massive life support system. The news traveled quickly and survivors flocked to the crater. Millions of refugees quickly depleted the limited resources, and stretched the life support system to the breaking point. Eventually the Neo Hong Kong island blocked off its borders and no new refugees were allowed to set foot.

Kikaider or Kikaida (キカイダー) is a Japanese superhero created by Shotaro Ishinomori. The character has appeared in manga, tokusatsu, and anime.

Paying tribute to Astro Boy, created by his mentor Osamu Tezuka, Ishinomori used the stories of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio (which was also the basis for Astro Boy) along with Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein as the basis for his science fiction action masterpiece hailed to this day by fans in Japan.

Speed Racer is the title of an English language adaptation of the Japanese anime Mach Go Go Go which centered around automobile racing. The series is an early example of an anime becoming a successful franchise in America.

The characters and storylines originated in Japan as the manga and anime series Mach Go Go Go (マッハGoGoGo) from the anime studio Tatsunoko Productions.

Mach Go Go Go was first created by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida (1933–1977) as a manga series in the 1960s and made the jump to TV as an anime series in 1967. The central character in the anime and manga was a young race car driver named Gō Mifune (三船剛 Mifune Gō). Yoshida selected the names and symbolisms in his creation very carefully. The M logo on the hood of his race car and the front of his helmet stood for his family name Mifune, an homage to Japanese film star Toshiro Mifune (and not "Mach 5" as the dub would suggest). His given name Go is also a Japanese homonym for the number 5 (the number on his race car). This is also represented by the letter G embroidered on his shirt.

Macross is widely considered a classic, combining giant transforming robots, apocalyptic battles, wartime romance, and victory through the use of various unconventional means, including bubblegum pop music. Ma. K. began as a series of SF3D photo essays in Hobby Japan. Kow scratch-built 1/20 and 1/72 scale models of unique, retro-futuristic armored fighting suits and vehicles. A small but dedicated fan following soon developed, and models were produced for retail by the company Nitto.

Mazinger Z is a gigantic Super Robot, constructed with a fictitious metal called Chogokin Z (in the American translation, Super-Alloy Z), which is forged from a new element mined from a reservoir found only in the sediment of Japan's Mt. Fuji. The mecha was built by Professor Juzo Kabuto as a secret weapon against the forces of evil, represented in the series by the Mechanical Beasts (mecha used for evil purposes) of Dr Hell. The latter was the German member of a Japanese archeological team, which discovered ruins of a lost pre-Grecian civilization on an island named Bardos; the civilization was loosely based on the ancient Mycenae, and was called the Mikenese Empire in the series. One of their findings was that the Mikenese used an army of steel golems about 60 to 65 feet in height (compare with the Greek legend of Talos). Finding prototypes of those golems underground which could be remote-controlled and realizing their immense power on the battlefield, Dr. Hell goes insane and has all the other scientists of his research team killed. Except for Kabuto; the lone survivor escapes to Japan and attempts to warn the world of its imminent danger. Meanwhile, Dr. Hell establishes his headquarters on a mobile island which he sails around on, and plans to use the Mechanical Beasts to become the new ruler of the world. To counter this, Kabuto constructs Mazinger Z and manages to finish it just before being killed by a bomb planted by Hell’s right-hand man, Baron Ashura. As he is dying, he manages to inform his grandson Koji Kabuto about the robot and its use. Koji becomes the robot’s pilot, and from that point on battles both the continuous mechanical monsters, and the sinister henchmen sent by Doctor Hell in every episode.

The basic plot is a re-telling of the adventures of Kouji Kabuto, pilot of the mighty Mazinger Z, the first Super Robot of anime, defender of Japan and of the Photon Energy research laboratory. He is joined by another hero, Tetsuya Tsurugi, in his Great Mazinger, along with token girl Sayaka Yumi in her female robot Aphrodite A, and comic-relief Boss and his Boss Borot. They all fight against the evil machines of Dr. Hell and his assistant, the half-man, half-woman servant Baron Ashura. This time around, however, Ashura forms an army of machines powerful enough to able to defeat both Kouji and Tetsuya, and is able to capture Mazinger and do severe damage to Great Mazinger. While Ashura and Dr. Hell plot the final attack to the Photon Laboratory, Kouji, who is missing after the battle, finds a hidden laboratory of his dead grandfather, Juuzou Kabuto. There he finds a hologram of his grandfather that tells him that the time has come to unleash the most powerful robot ever created: Mazinkaiser, so terribly powerful it can as easily be used as a lethal weapon of evil as it can be for good ("Mazinger Z gives you the power to be God or the Devil, but Mazinkaiser allows you to surpass both!"). Set in the future, the story of Megazone 23 was inspired by the popular anime program, Macross. In the Macross theatrical movie, Do You Remember Love? , the SDF-1 spaceship continues to broadcast (fabricated) transmissions of the idol singer Lynn Minmei during her period of captivity with the Zentradi in order to prevent the public from being aware of her disappearance. The creators of the Megazone anime video decided that they would increase the ignorance of their own spaceship's population, as they would not only be duped into idolizing a computer-generated singer, but would not even realize that they were on a spaceship.

Patlabor (a portmanteau of "patrol" and "labor") refers to Mobile Police Patlabor (機動警察パトレイバー, Kidō keisatsu patoreibā) a manga franchise created by Masami Yūki.

Omega Boost is a three dimensional shmup developed by Polyphony Digital (Makers of the famed Gran Turismo racing series) for the Sony PlayStation.

In the game, players take control of the Omega Boost, a giant robot or mecha in the style of famous Japanese Anime such as Mobile Suit Gundam or The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The player is charged with travelling back in time to stop an artificial intelligence called Alpha Core from altering ENIAC, the first computer, and thus making itself more powerful in the future. The gameplay takes place on rails, meaning you must travel where the game takes you in the same style as titles like Nintendo's Star Fox or Sega's Panzer Dragoon. However, this rail-shooter element does not hamper your freedom to fly where you choose. Panda-Z: The Robonimation (パンダーゼット THE ROBONIMATION) is a Japanese anime television series. The show features a number of giant robots piloted by anthropomorphic animals, in a parody of super robot shows such as Mazinger Z that were popular in the 1970s.

Candidate for Goddess (女神候補生 Megami Kōhosei) is a Japanese manga created by Yukiru Sugisaki. It was adapted into a twelve episode anime series in 2000 by Xebec, a subsidiary of Production I.G. A thirteenth episode was released in 2002 in the form on an OVA. This episode is currently unreleased in North America.

The anime series, entitled Pilot Candidate for its American release, was broadcast briefly on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block in 2002, though it was originally intended to be broadcast on Toonami and edited accordingly. Brave Raideen (勇者ライディーン - Yûsha Raidîn) or Yuusha Raideen. The Japanese TV show aired from April 4, 1975 to March 26, 1976, and ran for 50 episodes. Produced by Sunrise, Brave Raideen told the story of Akira Hibiki, who pilots the giant robot to fight against the Devil Empire. Akira would ride his “Supercar” motorcycle off of a cliff and yell “fade in!” as he entered the dormant Raideen.

Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam, directed the first 26 episodes of the show. He quit and was replaced with Tadao Nagahama, who also directed Combattler V and Voltes V. The mechanical design of Raideen was done by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and Suzuki Yoshitake. Originally, Raideen was intended to be green, but Mr. Yasuhiko changed his mind about this. The show was also the first to incorporate mystical or supernatural elements into the super robot genre.

Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman (科学忍者隊ガッチャマン, literally Scientific Ninja Troop Gatchaman, commonly translated as Science Ninja Team Gatchaman), is a 5-member superhero team who were the main characters in several anime originally produced in Japan by Tatsunoko Productions and later adapted into several English-language versions. It is also known as the abbreviated name Gatchaman or the English-language name G-Force. The original series, produced in 1972, was eponymously named Kagaku ninja tai Gatchaman and is most well-known to the English-speaking world as the adaptation entitled Battle of the Planets.

Five years ago, alien threats known as the Mimetic beasts laid waste to Japan. During a final battle against the Mimetic beasts, Goh saves his future wife, Anna, with his robot called "Dannar."

Now, on their wedding ceremony, the Mimetic beasts emerge after years of tranquility. Goh and his robot, Dannar, are called to action once again forcing Goh to leave Anna at the alter. As Goh struggles in his battle against the Mimetic beast, Anna stumbles upon a top secret robot known as the "Neo-Okusaer". She is able to pilot Neo-Okusaer to save her fiancee by merging it with Danner to form the mighty robot "Godannar."

Shogun Warriors were a line of toys, licensed by Mattel during the late 1970s that consisted of a series of imported Japanese robots all based on then-popular giant robot anime shows. They were originally manufactured in three sizes, the 24 inch plastic versions, the 3.5 inch diecast metal versions and the slightly taller but much more detailed and articulated 4" diecast versions. There were later offered special versions of the more popular robots that could be manipulated into an alternate configuration. Shogun Warriors included the following:

The most attractive features on these toys were the spring loaded launcher weapons such as missiles, star shuriken, and battleaxes. Some robots were able to launch their fists. The later diecast versions of these toys were also attractive for the ability to transform into different shapes. Grandizer, for instance, was changeable into a saucerlike spaceship. These "convertable" editions were the precursors to the "Transformers" line of toy robots but unlike the later toyline it was not unusual for minor dissasembly to be required to achieve the secondary form. Also the second form was not always an apparently useful one, a "giant skull" for instance.

Silverhawks is an animated children's television series. It was developed by Rankin/Bass and distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures in 1986. In total, 65 episodes were made. It was created as a space-bound equivalent to their more popular series, ThunderCats.

Rankin/Bass follow-up to their successful Thundercats was this series about a team of human heroes in the 25th Century who were given metal bodies and hawk wings to stop organized crime in the Limbo galaxy.

Bionic policeman Commander Stargazer recruited the SilverHawks to fight the evil Mon*Star, an escaped alien mob boss who transformed into an enormous armor-plated creature with the aid of Limbo’s Moonstar. Space Battleship Yamato (宇宙戦艦ヤマト Uchū Senkan Yamato) is a Japanese science fiction anime series created by Leiji Matsumoto, and the name of its eponymous space craft. It is also known to English-speaking audiences as Space Cruiser Yamato and Star Blazers; an English-dubbed and partly edited version of the series was broadcast on American television under the latter title. In Spanish it is known as Nave Spacial, and in Arabic as Nousour El Fada (Space Eagles).

Space Ironmen Kyodain (宇宙鉄人キョーダイン - Uchuu Tetsujin Kyodain) was a live action (Tokusatsu) Television program that ran from April 1976 to march 1977 lasting 48 episodes. The character design of the show was done by the legendary Shotaro Ishinomori.

The show chronicled the adventures of Kenji, a young boy whose Father (Dr. Hayami) and two Brothers (Jouji and Ryuji) are kidnapped by the Robot Army Corps. When the Robot Army Corps invade Japan, a UFO carrying two robots arrive to save the day. The two robots are Sky Zero (スカイゼル - sukaizeru or Skyzel) who has Joji's spirit and Ground Zero (グランゼル - guranzeru or Granzel) which has Ryuji's spirit. Each of these robots was created by the kidnapped Dr. Hayami, who programmed them to have the spirit of Kenji's older brothers in them. The robots purpose is to watch over young Kenji and protect the earth from the Robot Army Corps.

Space Runaway Ideon (伝説巨神イデオン Densetsu Kyojin Ideon), also known as Legendary Giant God Ideon, was an animated television series that aired on Japanese television from 1980 to 1981, followed by two feature films released in 1982. Ideon was created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, and was the series he produced immediately following his most famous work, Mobile Suit Gundam. Its mechanical designers were Submarine(series) & Higuchi Yuuichi(movies) and its characters were designed by Kogawa Tomonori.

Uchuu Keiji Gavan (宇宙刑事ギャバン, Uchū Keiji Gyaban), translated as Space Sheriff Gavan, is the first of the Metal Heroes series which aired on TV Asahi from 5 March 1982 through 20 January 1983.

The Super Dimension Century Orguss (超時空世紀オーガス) is an anime science fiction series. It inspired an OVA sequel series called Super Dimension Century Orguss 02. Orguss was part of The Super Dimension trilogy from Big West which featured The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross. Orguss was not localized in the United States as part of Robotech as Southern Cross and Macross were. Additionally, these three series are not sequels, prequels, or even in the same story universe as one another. They do share "The Super Dimension" (超時空 chou jikuu) moniker in their titles and were presented by Big West.

Super Sentai (スーパー戦隊, Sūpā Sentai) is the name given to the long running Japanese "superhero team" genre of shows produced by Toei Company Ltd. and Bandai, and aired by TV Asahi ("Super" refers to their use of mecha, and "sentai" is the Japanese word for "task force" or, literally, "fighting squadron" and was also a term used for Japanese squadrons in WWII). The shows are of the tokusatsu genre, featuring live action characters and colorful special effects, and are aimed mainly at families. Teen Titans was an American animated television series created by Sam Register and Glen Murakami and produced by Warner Bros. Animation. It premiered on Cartoon Network on July 19, 2003. Its last episode, "Things Change", premiered on January 16, 2006; the show lasted five seasons of thirteen episodes each. Teen Titans Go, a comic book written by J. Torres based on the show, was published by DC Comics. The direct to video film, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, will act as the "series finale" (interestingly, the performers of the Teen Titans theme, Puffy AmiYumi, come from Japan).

ekkaman: The Space Knight (宇宙の騎士テッカマン Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman) was an anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions in 1975.

Released in the mid 1980's in the United States, Tekkaman the Space Knight received excellent ratings on television in the U.S. and generated lots of positive fan mail. As syndication sales grew, television was suddenly bombarded with toy-driven "robot series" including "Voltron," "The Transformers," "Go-Bots," "Robotech," "Silverhawks," and more. This flood of bartered ("free") programs, all produced by large multi-million dollar corporations, destroyed future sales of Tekkaman (regardless of the excellent ratings) because at the time William Winckler Productions was a small independent company without a major toy company behind it.

Gigantor (originally Tetsujin 28-gō 鉄人28号, literally Iron Man #28) was a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama published in 1958 which was later made into several anime series, the first in 1963. It was the first "giant robot" series. A live action motion picture with heavy use of computer generated graphics was produced in Japan in 2005 based on the old comics as opposed to the newer version in "New Gigantor" which was translated into many languages including Arabic.

There are many indications that Gigantor is a predecessor to another "retro-style" anime, Giant Robo, including the main characters' design/personality similarities.

The Black Hole is a 1979 science fiction movie directed for Walt Disney Productions by Gary Nelson. It stars Maximilian Schell, Robert Forster, Joseph Bottoms, Yvette Mimieux, Anthony Perkins, and Ernest Borgnine. The voices of the main robot characters in the film are provided by Roddy McDowall and Slim Pickens. The music for the movie was composed by John Barry. The plot was derived from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Alan Dean Foster novelized the screenplay.

Apparently Disney's answer to Star Wars (though work on the film was already underway as early as 1975), at $20 million it was the most expensive picture produced by the company to date and the first to be given a PG rating, which caused a minor controversy. It was not well received by critics, although the special effects and matte work were praised. The movie earned $25 million at the U.S. box office, making it the 13th highest grossing film of the year. The film was nominated for cinematography and visual effects Academy Awards.

The Matrix is a science-fiction/action film first released in the USA on March 31, 1999, written and directed by Larry and Andy Wachowski. It stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss and Hugo Weaving. It has developed a strong following as a renowned Generation X/Generation Y classic.

The film describes a world in which the Matrix is an artificial reality created by sentient machines in order to pacify, subdue and make use of the human population as an energy source by growing them and connecting them to the Matrix with cybernetic implants. This series began with a three-episode story, later titled either More than Meets the Eye or Arrival from Cybertron. In this incarnation the planet Cybertron is running low on energy. The Heroic Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, set out in space to search for more energy but are attacked by the Evil Decepticons led by Megatron. Both races crash on Earth and lie in suspended animation for the next four million years. Awakened by a volcanic eruption, the computer on board, Teletraan I, begins repairing Decepticons and Autobots. The Decepticons set out to plunder Earth's energy resources in order to have the energy to conquer Cybertron. Trigun (トライガン) is a sci-fi manga series with a steampunk Wild West theme created by Yasuhiro Nightow in 1995, and adapted into a 26 episode anime series in 1998 by Madhouse. It is the story of Vash the Stampede, a.k.a. The Humanoid Typhoon, a person with a $$60,000,000,000 bounty on his head, and the two Bernardelli Insurance Society employees, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, who were ordered to follow him and minimize the damage that seems to follow Vash everywhere he goes. It was shown on Japanese TV in 1975 and lasted 74 episodes.

Virtual- On is a series of video games, created by Sega's AM3 (Amusement R&D Dept.#3) later renamed Hitmaker, and first published for the arcade in February 1995. In Japan it is known as Dennou Senki Virtual On. The gameplay consists of a fast, action oriented, gameplay, where quick reflexes are of the utmost importance. The game has seen 4 iterations, and has been ported to several consoles.

Invincible Super Man Zambot 3 (無敵超人ザンボット3 in kanji, transliterated as Muteki Choujin Zanbot 3 in romaji) is an anime series created by Yoshiyuki Tomino and Yoshitake Suzuki, and produced by Sunrise. It was first broadcast on Japanese TV in 1977. The series lasted for 23 episodes.

This, along with Tomino's 1980 series Space Runaway Ideon, are largely credited with creating Tomino's infamous nickname, "Kill 'em all" Tomino. This is due to Tominos' tendency to kill very large amounts of the main casts of his stories at the end. Often no one is spared, adults, elderly, women, men, and most notoriously children going even as young as infanthood. Most, if not all of Zambots' main cast dies at the end of the series. This was actually somewhat controversial because much of Zambots' main cast were very young children. Although they die a very heroic death, Zambot was a series primarilly aimed at a much younger audience and many felt it extremely sadistic to kill off young children in front of young children. There was no backlash, and this didn't seem to faze Tomino at all as his death count in Ideon is legendary even to this day, and this tradition has continued well through many of Tomino's other works including Aura Battler Dunbine, Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack, and Victory Gundam.
