Gunbuster

Gunbuster, known in Japan as Aim for the Top! (トップをねらえ!, Top O Nerae!) is a six episode anime OVA series created by Gainax in 1988. It was the directional debut of Hideaki Anno, who is best known for his role as the director of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The title is a parody of the classic tennis anime Aim for the Ace!.

Review: Mon-Sieur Bome Collection Noriko Takaya

It’s so rare for there to be figures based on 80’s anime. Noriko and the rest of the cast’s character designs were done by Haruhiko Mikimoto who is best known for doing the character designs for Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Century Orguss and Gundam 0080 War in the Pocket. IMO, he is quite possibly one of the best character designers ever from the 1980’s era of anime production. The designs for Gunbuster were adapted for animation by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who is one of the top character designers for the 90’s era of anime and did work for Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
