Ryofu Housen Special Version (Ikki Tousen) Garage Kit Selection
|
Ryofu Housen is one of the main (or at least one of the more popular) characters from Ikki tousen (known in the US an Canada as “Battle Vixens”), which is a popular anime that features ancient Chinese warrior-generals reincarnated as school girls and boys.
The show is known for its kung fu battle sequences, extensive fan-service and philosophical deliberations over the role of destiny and fate in life.
Ryofu plays the quintessential bad girl (reincarnated warrior Lu Bu) with brown leather jacket (usually nothing underneath), ruffled school girl socks, and plaid skirt. This is her “classic” outfit as opposed to several of the other versions of Ryofu that are out there.
Ryofu is probably one of the most heavily marketed of the Ikki tousen characters. There are about a dozen different TYPES of Ryofu statues/figures some with 2 or 3 variants.
This was a solid effort (i.e., a hefty statue) and really a wonderful statue by Griffin with a clean sculpt and a great pose but I’m not sure that the casual collector will think much of the price tag for the relatively simple (if beautiful) sculpt of this Ryofu statue. It would be great in PVC.
This statue is one of my favorite representations of Ryofu and one of the better versions out there.
The pose is awesome and catches her in a sexy pose with her brown leather jacket draped around her lower body.
Great detail is present on the jacket and socks.
The facial expression doesn’t really capture much expression but she’s typically pretty stoic in the anime.
The body pose is really the magic here - the feet and the socks really are part of the statue’s character.
Ryofu’s body sculpt and pose is elegant. Good detail on musculature and bone structure. Breast shape is good but not overdone. Overall curves are good and are consistent with the look of the character in the anime.
The overall statue comes in a solid foam packing box as one piece except for the hair which is attached to the head via metal stubs. Be careful with the hair bits..they can break easily if not properly managed.
The figure attaches to a wooden base via a metal peg in the foot which seems pretty sturdy.
